The aircraft were being readied for flight last evening in preparation for a suspected withdrawal either to H2 IQAAF Airbase in the East or Al Basrah in the North East. USAAF F-16s have been involved in skirmishes an hour earlier with SAM sites just over the border in enemy airspace. Two F-16s are currently on their way back to Rafha Airbase. They made contact with "fast movers" out of Ghalaysan New 30 minutes back but the IQAAF fighters were moving too fast and the F-16s had to turn back. The current IQAAF tactic has been observed: pairs of fighters launching and then running at MACH and low level to the North East. They seem to be avoiding combat. You are to launch in a flight of four F-18s and proceed at 8,000 feet ASL and 420+KIAS with Hornet Two to your first Waypoint to the East of Ghalaysan New. You are to kill Migs who try to run from that base.     Take two HARMS with you in case of SAM activity. Try to stay above 4,000 feet AGL to avoid AAA threats. Two more F-16s are on alert at Safwan Airbase to the East in Kuwait and will launch if you get close to them. 3 A-10s out of Qasumah will attack H2 at around 0235 hrs to deny it's runway to fleeing IQAAF aircraft. AMRAAM stocks are being depleted so the other 3 F-18s in your flight are taking only one each along on this sortie. This fact puts you in the chair as the main BVR "hitter" in the flight so take along at least two AMRAAMs in your loadout. Do not stray to far to the North near Al Basrah. Ex-Soviet mercenary pilots are reported to be in that area and may press South to challenge you In Sukhoi SU-27 fighters. You must kill all Migs who may launch from Ghalaysan New IQAAF Airbase. If any make it to another base then your mission will be considered a failure. Recover at Rafha Airbase (if convenient).
